Why She Stayed
At An African-American School, Solomon Coles, During Desegregation
Segregation is one of the blemishes that has marred our country’s history. Countless stories have been told about the brave African American children who were pioneers during desegregation.
However, many children stayed in predominantly African American schools. And many thrived and succeeded. Do you know their stories?
No matter which path was chosen back in the 1960’s, all of our lives today have been impacted by the choices that were made more than 40 years ago. People of all ages and races should read about it.
Journey back with this ground breaking author and read the odyssey in vivid details of a girl who chose to stay. This is an incredible read of how a Supreme Court ruling impacted one African American community and how school faculty banded together to ensure a high quality education for its students. The true story is told in the African American voice by those who lived through it.
